Her goal is to be a junior high school teacher. Even better, she wants to return to Maya Jaguar to teach. She’s been a student at Maya Jaguar for four years. She’ll begin her fifth, and final, year in January 2026.
Upon graduating from high school, she hopes to enter a two-year university program that trains and certifies junior high school teachers. Her life changed so radically when she began junior high school at Maya Jaguar. She told us it’s important to her that she have the opportunity to make such a difference in others’ lives.
What did she learn at Maya Jaguar that so inspired her? 1) How to live, play and work well with others. 2) Teamwork and camaraderie. 3) The values that the Maya Jaguar teachers exhibit by example, and promote through their teaching and coaching: honesty, work with purpose, be kind and helpful to your fellow students, and your community.
Diana’s smile tells it all. She also appreciates Maya Jaguar because she loves the wildlife here. There are howler monkeys, quetzales, foxes, wild turkeys, and more. She sees each of them as important to our planet. And she sees it as her duty to help care for them, and to help others learn to appreciate them, too.
