…a disastrous event is turning into a successful recovery

When two lightning bolts struck our Maya Jaguar Private Technical Institute on successive nights, damage to infrastructure was extensive. Fortunately, no students or staff were injured, but repairs to damaged equipment and replacement costs turned into an immediate need.

Within just a few weeks, YOUR donations flowed in and these funds will cover the unexpected costs of our campus infrastructure recovery!

Two of our damaged Starlink systems have already been replaced, another one repaired. Damaged solar panels, storage batteries, kitchen refrigerator, along with various electronics panels and junction boxes have now all been replaced. The swift actions of our campus maintenance staff, under Executive Administrator Osman’s steady leadership, ensured that classes were resumed the day after the lightning storms.

The acquisition and installation of a more robust lightning protection system is currently underway. We all rally together and we remain strong and steadfast. Educating the Maya children, and their safety, is our priority. With no interruption in classes, these eleven students will be graduating in October, right on schedule, earning their high school diploma.
