About Patricia

Patricia taught Spanish and English in Dual Immersion Elementary classrooms for more than 20 years. She also taught English as a Second Language to English language learners, and Spanish as a Second language to Spanish Language learners. She served as a mentor to student teachers from OSU Cascades in Bend, Oregon, and Universities in California.

 

Patricia helped to lead the implementation of a first and second grade Spanish immersion 50/50 program in the Lake Oswego School District, where she created the Spanish curriculum for first and second grade students.  She also taught English and Spanish to first grade students.  

 

Patricia earned a Master's in Curriculum Instruction and ESOL. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Davis, and her teaching credential from UC San Diego. She is a native Spanish speaker who is able to connect with a diverse population of parents and students. Patricia was trained at CARLA Dual Language Institute in Minnesota, and was a presenter for La Cosecha Dual Language conference in New Mexico.

 

Retired from fulltime teaching, Patricia continues to work part time with Central Oregon’s Migrant students and families through HDESD Migrant Education Department. She has been married to her best friend, Jeff, for 30 years and has two sons.  Patricia enjoys volunteering, traveling to Spanish-speaking countries, and hiking with her family and two beloved dogs.
